I love the power of social media and how easy it is to connect with other people, especially local artists!
Maybe my love of all things handmade came from my mom who’d bring me along to craft shows or maybe its because I’ve always loved to create myself. I’ve always appreciated the quality of each piece and how there’s often imperfections (which I love).
Anyways, I thought yall might enjoy some of these accounts too!
My favorite Hampton Roads, Virginia artisans to follow:
Kristin Elizabeth is a clay jewelry and silhouette creator in Hampton, Virginia. I love how she puts a modern spin on classic staples.
Dani White is a dear friend of mine here in Newport News creating serene art pieces to fund the adoption of a little one. This girl just oozes with talent!
I discovered Kate’s work in Norfolk, Virginia at the Handmade show at the Hermitage Museum last year. Her bigger than life landscapes took my breath away. She also offers several different watercolor classes that I’d recommend trying!
The natural and nautical feel of Renee’s pieces drew me in right away! Recently I couldn’t resist a square wreath she made with grasses. You can find her in Newport News, Virginia also!
Those of you who know me well, know I love flowers. Though this business is transitioning from Virginia to California, I just couldn’t resist sharing her botanical jewelry.
Stephie Jones is based out of Virginia Beach. I mean, who doesn’t live for a beautiful nautical print in this area? Her work is simple and relaxing!
I have been obsessed with Northend Bag Co. for years. Leather bags are just so durable! The Leona in Coyote is my favorite.
This family is located in Norfolk, Virginia. As you notice, i’m a sucker for all things natural. I love that not only is this family super talented in making different things, but they include their little ones too. They recently made an entryway bench that I can imagine in our sunroom.
Taking a pottery has been on my bucket list to try. Until then, I’ll just continue to look at these beautiful creations out of Chesapeake, Virginia.
With the explosion of the Farmhouse style my love for handmade wooden furniture has deepened! Eagleworks out of Chesapeake has so many incredible wooden pieces!
