HEIRLOOM PORTRAITS IN WILLIAMSBURG, RICHMOND & VIRGINIA BEACH
Heirloom portraiture is designed with the finished artwork in mind from the very beginning. Every detail, from wardrobe guidance to framing, is intentionally curated to create timeless pieces that feel beautifully at home in your space.
Classic child-focused portraits inspired by traditional heirloom artwork.
Museum-quality framing and archival materials designed to last for generations.
From planning through installation, every detail is thoughtfully handled for you.
Heirloom photography is a timeless style of children’s portraiture created with longevity in mind. Rather than following trends, the focus remains on your child: their expression, the details of childhood, and the little features you want to remember long after they’ve grown.
Traditionally, heirloom portraits are simple and refined, often featuring classic children’s clothing, soft colors, and an uncluttered setting. My approach carries that tradition forward while creating portraits that still feel natural and unmistakably like your child.
But an heirloom portrait isn’t complete simply because the photograph has been taken. I believe the way it is preserved matters, too. Each commission is designed with finished artwork in mind, using archival materials and timeless framing so your child’s portrait can become part of your home now and, one day, part of your family’s history.

Long before I ever picked up a camera, I understood how quickly life changes.
I lost my father when I was little, and growing up, there were very few photographs of my childhood. My memories of those years became incredibly precious because there was so little tangible to hold onto. I think that’s where my love for preserving people and seasons of life truly began.
Then I became a mother.
And suddenly, I understood in an entirely new way just how fleeting childhood really is. The tiny expressions, the curls at the nape of their neck, the gap-toothed smiles, the way they reach for your hand without thinking. One day those little details quietly disappear, often before we even realize they’re changing.
Heirloom portraits are meaningful to me because they become part of a family’s story long after childhood has passed. They live framed on walls, tucked into hallways, passed down to children and grandchildren, quietly reminding future generations who was loved here.
These portraits are not simply about documenting what your child looked like.
They are about preserving who they were in this season, with beauty, intention, and permanence.
WHAT MAMA'S ARE SAYING ABOUT CLASSIC HEIRLOOMS
"..I cannot express how thrilled I am with the entire experience. From start to finish, Dreama’s professionalism, creativity, and attention to detail were truly amazing."
VIRGINIA HEIRLOOM PHOTOGRAPHY
Heirloom portraits are most often created between one and six years old, when children still carry that unmistakable softness of early childhood. That said, there is no single “perfect” age. Each stage holds its own beauty, and I’ll guide you in choosing the timing that feels right for your child.
Heirloom portraits are intentionally simple and timeless. Soft whites, creams, light blue, and subtle pastels photograph beautifully against the classic white backdrop. Many families choose a special heirloom outfit that has been passed down or lovingly selected for this milestone. I also offer guidance and access to my curated wardrobe to help complete the look.
Your commission includes planning and wardrobe guidance, a child-focused portrait session, professional retouching, and a private artwork design appointment. After your session, I’ll guide you through selecting the portraits you love and choosing how you’d most like to enjoy them in your home. Artwork is selected separately during your design appointment, with digital images available for purchase once artwork has been chosen.
During your private viewing and design appointment, I’ll help you select your favorite portraits and choose the artwork you’d most love to enjoy in your home. Once artwork has been purchased, digital images are also available to purchase from your gallery.
This is one of the most common concerns and almost always unnecessary. I work at your child’s pace, allowing time for them to warm up and feel comfortable. Sessions are short by design, and years of experience have taught me how to gently guide even the most reserved little ones.
My studio is located in Newport News, Virginia, and I proudly serve families throughout Williamsburg, Richmond, and Virginia Beach, as well as surrounding areas. Heirloom Events may also be hosted in select private locations.
Heirloom Events are limited-availability portrait days hosted in select locations or private homes. These sessions are shorter and designed exclusively for heirloom portraits, offering the same level of craftsmanship and artwork options in a special event format.
Heirloom portraits are not simply photographs; they are custom, museum-quality works of art. From the materials used to the time spent guiding you through design and ordering, each piece is created to last for generations. This experience prioritizes craftsmanship, longevity, and the preservation of childhood in its most timeless form.
