Pure, simple portraits of your baby’s earliest days, thoughtfully created to become part of your family’s story.
There is something extraordinary about the first days with a new baby. The tiny details you find yourself memorizing, the way they curl against you, and the first glimpse of who they are becoming.
My newborn sessions are designed to preserve this season simply and honestly. Rather than elaborate sets or heavily posed photographs, I create timeless portraits centered on your baby and the people who already love them most.
From planning what to wear to choosing the portraits you’ll live with in your home, I’ll thoughtfully guide you through every part of the experience.
Your baby doesn’t need to sleep on command or fit into a predetermined set of poses.
I follow your baby’s cues, allowing time for feeding, changing, soothing and simply settling in. Some babies sleep soundly. Others spend much of their session wide awake. Both are beautiful.
After more than a decade of photographing children, I’ve learned that some of the most meaningful portraits happen when we stop trying to make little ones perform and simply give them room to be themselves.

Created in my light-filled Newport News studio, these sessions are simple, soft and intentionally uncluttered. Neutral wraps, delicate newborn pieces and everything needed for baby’s portraits are prepared before you arrive, allowing the focus to remain exactly where it belongs: on your baby.
For families who want to remember these earliest days in the place they’re unfolding, I also offer in-home newborn sessions. These portraits are relaxed and connection-focused, preserving baby in your arms, quiet moments in the nursery, siblings curled beside you and the little details that make this season yours.
It’s easy for those first weeks to become a collection of photographs of everyone holding the baby while you’re the one behind the camera.
I want you in the story, too.
Parents and siblings are always welcome to be photographed during a newborn session. I’ll help with wardrobe, gently guide you into natural positions and take care of the little details so you don’t need to worry about knowing what to do in front of the camera.
Years from now, your child won’t be looking for perfection. They’ll be looking for you.
Before your session, I’ll help you plan what everyone will wear and how to prepare. At the studio, soft wraps, blankets, diaper covers and simple newborn pieces are available for baby.
Once you arrive, there is nowhere to rush and nothing you need to know how to do. The studio is warm, the pace is intentionally relaxed, and we follow your baby’s needs as the session unfolds.

1. INQUIRY & Consultation
We’ll begin with a conversation about your growing family, what you’re envisioning for your newborn portraits, and any questions you may have. You don’t need to have everything figured out before reaching out.

I’ll guide you through wardrobe, session style, and whether you’d like to include parents and siblings. We’ll also decide whether a studio or in-home newborn session feels like the best fit for your family.
3. Portrait Session
Your session will follow your baby’s cues, with plenty of time for feeding, soothing, changing, and snuggling. Rather than forcing poses, I photograph your baby naturally and create simple, timeless portraits centered on connection.

Enjoy them in the way that feels right for your family. Whether you choose finished artwork, digital images, or a combination of both, your portraits are yours to enjoy now and return to as your baby grows.

frequently asked questions
I recommend reserving your newborn session three to four months before your due date whenever possible. I accept a limited number of newborn commissions each month so that every family receives a thoughtfully planned, personal experience.
We’ll reserve space around your due date and choose your actual portrait date once baby arrives.
The first two weeks after birth are often a beautiful time for newborn portraits, when babies are still naturally curled and settling into those early newborn rhythms. If your baby is older, please don’t worry. Beautiful newborn portraits can still be created, and I’ll guide you toward an approach that feels right for your baby.
One of the benefits of reserving your newborn session during pregnancy is that we don’t schedule your actual session until after your baby arrives. Instead, we’ll reserve space around your due date and adjust as needed once your little one is here. Whether your baby decides to make an early entrance or keeps everyone waiting a little longer, we’ll simply choose the best date together during those first few weeks.
Not at all. Your baby doesn’t need to sleep through the session for us to create beautiful portraits. Sessions are baby-led and intentionally unhurried, with time for feeding, soothing and cuddling whenever your baby needs it.
Whether your baby is sleepy, wide awake or somewhere in between, I’ll follow their cues and gently guide the session around them.
I’ve written a blog post if you’re still asking, “What is baby-led newborn photography?“
Yes. Parents and siblings are always welcome to be included in your newborn session. While your baby is at the heart of the session, I also love creating portraits that preserve the connection between your newest little one and the people who already love them most.
I’ll help you plan what to wear and gently guide you throughout the session so everything feels natural and relaxed. We can create a beautiful mix of portraits of baby alone, with siblings, with each parent, and together as a family.
I’ll help you plan what to wear so your family feels comfortable and your portraits have the soft, timeless look you see throughout my work. I typically recommend a light, classic palette with soft neutrals, whites, gentle color, and subtle patterns that keep the focus on your family and your new baby.
For baby, simple is often best. A white onesie, delicate romper, bloomers, overalls, or even just a diaper can photograph beautifully and keep your little one looking like exactly that: your little one.
Once your session is reserved, I’m happy to help coordinate clothing for the entire family, look through pieces you already own, and offer suggestions if you’re shopping for something new.
Newborn sessions typically last between 60 and 90 minutes, depending on your baby’s needs. The session is designed to feel calm and relaxed, never rushed, so you and your baby can feel comfortable throughout the experience.
Newborn sessions take place in my private Newport News portrait studio, thoughtfully prepared to feel warm, calm and welcoming for new parents and babies. I regularly welcome families from Norfolk and throughout Hampton Roads.
In-home lifestyle newborn sessions are also available for families who would prefer to be photographed in their own home.
Yes. In addition to newborn sessions in my Newport News studio, I offer in-home newborn photography for families who would like to preserve this season in the place where so much of it is unfolding.

I’ll help you plan wardrobe and choose the spaces that will photograph beautifully, so you don’t need to worry about having a perfectly styled or picture-ready home.
Portraits and artwork are purchased separately after your session. During your private Artwork Design Appointment, I’ll help you choose what feels right for your family, whether that’s framed artwork, an heirloom album, a collection, or your full gallery of digital images.
