Their first smile becomes a belly laugh. Those tiny newborn hands become wonderfully dimpled fingers. Before long, they’re sitting, crawling, pulling themselves up and taking those first uncertain steps.
Milestone portraits give you a way to remember not only what your baby looked like, but who they were becoming.
My approach is simple, light and timeless, with the focus always on your baby. No elaborate themes are needed. Just the expressions, details and personality you’ll want to remember long after this season has passed.
WHEN TO PHOTOGRAPH
Every Baby Reaches Milestones Differently
There isn’t one perfect age for milestone portraits. Rather than choosing a session simply because your baby has reached a certain number of months, I love photographing the stages that show who they are right now.
Sitting
Around 6–9 Months
Once your baby is comfortably sitting independently, we can capture wonderful expressions, little toes, gummy smiles and all of the personality beginning to emerge.
Standing & First Steps
Around 9–12 Months
Crawling, pulling up and those first wobbly steps bring an entirely new energy to portraits. This is such a sweet stage for documenting both movement and connection.
First Birthday
Around 12 Months
First birthday portraits celebrate just how much has changed during baby’s first year. Sessions can remain beautifully simple or incorporate a favorite outfit, heirloom piece or understated birthday cake.

Timeless First Birthday Portraits
A first birthday is worth celebrating.
But beautiful first birthday portraits don’t have to mean elaborate sets, trendy themes or an explosion of decorations. I prefer to keep things simple so that years from now, what you notice first is your baby.
We might photograph your little one in a favorite outfit, a classic romper or dress, something sentimental that has been passed down through your family, or simply bare feet and bloomers. If you’d like to incorporate a birthday cake, we can do that too while keeping the overall look soft and timeless.
The result is a celebration of one year that still feels like your family decades from now.

Babies don’t need to perform for beautiful portraits.
Milestone sessions are relaxed and guided around your baby’s personality and comfort. We’ll give them time to explore, play, warm up to the camera and simply be themselves.
Before your session, I’ll help you plan wardrobe and talk through what you’d like to preserve at this particular stage. My client wardrobe includes carefully selected pieces for babies and young children, and I’m always happy to help coordinate something you already own or are considering purchasing.
The studio’s light, neutral setting keeps the focus exactly where it belongs: on your baby.
TOGETHER
You Belong in Their Story, Too
While your baby may be the reason we’re celebrating, milestone sessions don’t have to be only about them.
Parents and siblings are welcome to step into a few portraits, whether that’s your baby curled into your arms, an older sibling making them laugh or simply the way they reach for you at this age.
These often become some of the photographs families treasure most.

Baby’s First Year was created for families who want to preserve more than a single milestone. Rather than realizing at their first birthday how quickly the year disappeared, we’ll thoughtfully document several of the stages along the way.
Families may choose three or four portrait sessions throughout baby’s first year, allowing us to create a collection that tells the story from those impossibly tiny newborn days through the personality, movement and joy that emerge during the months that follow.
At the end, you’ll have more than photographs from individual sessions. You’ll have the story of their first year.

• Professional retouching of your final gallery
• A private Artwork Design Appointment
Most families invest between $1,500–3,000 on framed heirloom artwork and portrait collections.
Artwork is selected and purchased during your private viewing and design appointment.
Once artwork has been purchased, digital images are also available to purchase from your gallery.

A simple birthday cake can absolutely be incorporated into your baby’s first birthday portraits. Rather than elaborate themed cake-smash sets, I keep the styling understated so the photographs remain timeless and your baby stays at the center of the story.
What should my baby wear?
Simple, classic clothing photographs beautifully. Think rompers, bloomers, dresses, overalls, soft knits and pieces with subtle texture. You’ll receive wardrobe guidance before your session, and my client wardrobe includes carefully selected pieces for babies and young children.
Can parents and siblings be included?
Absolutely. While the session is centered around your baby’s milestone, parents and siblings are welcome to be included in a selection of portraits.
