Your experience begins before you ever step in front of my camera. We’ll talk about your children, your home, what you’re drawn to, and what you ultimately hope to create from your portraits.
I’ll help you plan wardrobe, and families are welcome to choose from the pieces in my client wardrobe or incorporate something meaningful of their own. If you’re shopping for an outfit, I’m also happy to help you choose something that will photograph beautifully and still feel like your child.
After your session, we’ll meet again to look through the portraits together and begin designing the pieces you’d most love to enjoy in your home.

While my portrait studio is located in Newport News, I work with families throughout Richmond and Central Virginia, including Midlothian, the West End, and surrounding communities.
Depending on the portrait experience you’re planning, we can discuss whether your commission is best suited to the studio, an on-location experience, or one of my private Richmond heirloom portrait events.
For families traveling to the studio, we’ll plan everything ahead of time so that when portrait day arrives, you can simply bring your children and enjoy the experience.

Do you photograph families from Richmond?
Absolutely. I work with families throughout Richmond, Midlothian, the West End, and surrounding areas. My studio is located in Newport News, and I also offer select on-location experiences and Private Heirloom Portrait Events throughout Virginia.
What age is best for an heirloom portrait?
There isn’t one perfect age. Babies, toddlers, preschoolers, and older children each bring something different to a portrait. If you’re wondering whether now is the right time for your child, I’ve written more about the best ages for heirloom portraits here.
What should my child wear?
Simple, classic clothing photographs beautifully for heirloom portraits. Smocked dresses, Peter Pan collars, delicate embroidery, soft whites, pastels, and meaningful family pieces are all lovely choices. You’ll receive guidance before your session, and my client wardrobe is also available.
Can siblings be photographed together?
Yes. Individual portraits can be created for each child as well as portraits of siblings together. I especially love helping families create artwork collections that feel cohesive while still allowing each child’s personality to come through.
Do you offer digital images?
Yes. Digital images are available after artwork has been purchased. My process is intentionally centered around creating finished pieces for your home first, whether that is framed wall art, a keepsake piece, or another heirloom product. Once your artwork order is complete, you may also choose to purchase digital images from your gallery.
